Join us on August 17th to connect with other white folks who are interested in racial justice work, and learn about the SURJ model and how to get involved. This is the third of three potlucks/open houses that are planned for the summer. In the fall we plan to start regular monthly meetings to build skills and a shared language around race and racism. Please spread the word!
We will be:
- Sharing more about the model and what we mean by "movement building"
- Exploring our role as white people in context of the Twin Ports
- Inviting everyone to deeper accountability/relationship with one another as we go forward doing this important work!

SURJ Northland is a new collective of white people in northern Minnesota and Wisconsin who envision a world without institutional racism, white privilege, and systemic violence against communities of color. SURJ stands for Showing Up for Racial Justice.
We aim to be a long-term presence in the Northland, educating and organizing white people to (1) understand their stake in ending racism, and to (2) organize with and in support of people of color-led movements for racial justice. We are about helping our community build skills, create a shared language and vocabulary to talk about racism, and take real action that leads to sustained social change. We support the self-determination of people of color, and honor their leadership. SURJ Northland is affiliated with SURJ, a national network of groups and individuals who are organizing white people to act for racial justice.
We are just getting started, and we'd love for you to join us!
